Work Plan
1. Name of Organization- Oberlin College Athletic Department
2. General Info- Address- 200 Woodland Street, Oberlin, Ohio, 44074
Industry- College Athletics
Main Service- Providing college students an opportunity to compete in intercollegiate athletics.
3. Key People in the Organization- Natalie Winklefoos- Delta Lodge Director of Athletics and Physical Education
Creg Jantz- Senior Associate Director of Athletics
Eric Lahetta- Associate Director of Athletics for Intercollegiate Sports
Mike Mancini- Assistant Director of Athletics for Communication
4. Supervisor Information: For my mentorship, I will be advised by Creg Jantz. who is the Senior Associate Director of Athletics. Although he is my official supervisor, I will be reporting to various employees of the athletic department.
5. General Hours: 3 days per week- 6-7 hour per day
I will not have a set schedule and I will work whenever I am needed. This could include working during a game that starts at 7 p.m. and finishing when the game is complete.
6. Main Duties:
- Sitting in on fundraising meetings for a new athletic facility
- Sitting in on construction meetings for the new facility
- Attending home sporting events for any team that is playing
- Developing a facilities master plan
- Working to find sponsors for the annual golf outing
- Requesting donations for the silent auction that is held at the golf outing
- Developing short write-ups for special events at games
- Helping with half time entertainment for basketball games
7. Compensation: For this mentorship, I will not be receiving compensation. I believe that the knowledge I will gain from this mentorship will be the compensation.
8. Specific Goals: 1. Contribute positively to the athletic department in any capacity that I am asked.
2. Generate a list of contacts that will help find employment in college athletics.
3. Help raise money for the athletic department through sponsorship's and donations.
9. Expected Learning Outcomes: I feel that this mentorship gives me an excellent opportunity to learn the ins and outs of college athletics. I hope to gain an understanding of what it takes to run a successful athletic department. I want to learn more about successful fundraising campaigns for college athletics as well as how much money it takes to build a new facility.
